Collaborative Innovation Center of Chemistry for Energy Materials, abbreviated to as "iChEM", was established jointly by Xiamen University (XMU), Fudan University (FDU), and the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), under the framework of the "Synergistic Innovation Program" of the Ministries of Education and Finance of China. This so-called "2011-Program" is aiming at integrally raising the research originality and application potentials of the universities in China and meanwhile training young generation of research excellence.
The Center sets up 7 Innovative Research Divisions with such broad research fields as fundamental and applied chemistry, material sciences and energy sciences. Now the process for recruitment of Chief Scientists, Principle Investigators, Research Associates, Postdoctoral Fellows and Senior Visiting Scholars has been started globally.

1. Chief Scientists, Principle Investigators, Research Associates
1) Job Requirements
Applicants should have strong research background and potential in their research field worldwide. Good idea of team working and academic innovation is preferred.
2) Responsibilities:
a) Chief Scientists: those who should be head of divisions to lead scientific research project cooperatively under the guidance of Center Director. Under the framework of aiming at the world level of research excellence, they will determine the direction and goals of research development, and plan for the division construction. They will be responsible to interview, recruit, and evaluate the Principle Investigatorswiththeir members. They will be also responsible to lead the whole research divisions to apply for national research projects in science and technology and make arrangement for utilization of resources.
b) Principle Investigators: those who should be responsible for application of the national research project, team building and construction, personnel training for scientific research in order to make progress and achievements in their research fieldunder the leadership of chief scientists. The specific research contents could be either confirmed by the chief scientist, or explored themselves but recognized by the chief scientist.
c) Research Associates: those who will carry on the research activities and talent cultivation under the leadership of research team leader.
3) Benefit Packages
a) For research, start-up founding, laboratories, and Post-doc positions will be provided by the Center.
b) For salary, a highly competitive package that is compatible with the international package will be provided based on the position after negotiation.
2. Postdoctoral Fellows
1) Job Requirements:
Applicants, who obtained Ph.D. Degree within 5 years, should have active academic thoughts, strong innovative capability, development potential, research background, and research plan that comply with the research goals of our Center. Full-time is preferred.
2) Benefit Packages:
a) For research, the recruited Post-doc will cooperate with the Principle Investigators and chief scientists in our Center. The Center will provide superior research environment.
b) For salary, a highly competitive salary package that is compatible with the international package will be provided based on interview results and research quality of the applicants: Post-doc I is offered ¥300,000/yr; Post-doc II is offered ¥200,000 to ¥300,000/yr; and Post-doc III is offered ¥150,000 to ¥200,000/yr. Excellent Post-doc will be sent abroad for international academic exchanges and cooperation.
3. Senior Visiting Scholars
1) Job requirements
Senior Visiting Scholar should meet such basic requirements as the follows:
a) They should have Ph.D. Degree and over 5-year research experience with the age under 40 years old. For those excellent young pioneers or Post-doc with outstanding achievement, their age could be under 35 years old.
b) They are able to work with both English and Chinese.
c) Their current oversea positions should be equivalent to associate professor or above at famous universities or research institutions. They should be well recognized expert in their research field.
d) They should know about development trend of their research very well, have enriched research experiences as team leader or important project leader, and make important achievements acknowledged by international peers.
e) They should have intention of cooperation or have already established close cooperative relationship with research teams or researchers in the Center.
2) Benefit Packages
The Center provides ¥25,000 to ¥80,000/month/person for the Visiting Scholars to compensate their living, insurance expenses based on different research experiences and research task. For those who work overseas, their travel expenses will be reimbursed.
