The MOE officially released “Academic Committee Procedures for Colleges and Universities” on February 19, 2014 in which clearly requires the colleges and universities to establish an Academic Committee – the highest academic institution. The main responsibility of the Academic Committee is to determine, review, evaluate and consult with discipline construction, academic assessment and development, and faculty appointment, etc. and also deals with the matters related to academic dispute.

The procedure states out, from March 1 on, the National Undergraduate Schools will gradually establish the Academic Committee with members not less than 15 in odd number in which the members with leadership positions does not exceed 1/4 and the full-time faculties without any leadership positions must be more than 1/2 of the total number of members.
