The symposium for two-dimensional (2D) materials was successfully held at XMU on August 20-21, 2014. Prof. Zhong-Qun Tian presided over the symposium. Director Qiu-Li Chen of Department of Science and Technology of Fujian Province attended the symposium.

The symposium was held in a form of international meeting in English and was shared by the four iChEM member institutions via multi-video conference system. In the topic of progress and application of 2D materials and graphene, the symposium invited the Nobel Laureate Konstantin Novoselov of University of Manchester, Prof. Zhongfan Liu of Beijing University, Prof. Yi Xie and Prof. Jinlong Yang of USTC, Prof. Qiang Fu of DICP, Prof. Ke He of Tsinghua University, and Vice President Jingyu Lu of the BGT Materials in UK. They all presented wonderful lectures and had heated discussions on scientific frontier of 2D materials, including graphene, and how to promote fundamental research and strengthen research cooperation for application of 2D materials and graphene in the symposium.
