Prof.Jean-Marie LEHN is a famous French chemist. He received the Nobel Prize in 1987 for his work in chemistry, particularly his synthesis of the cryptands. LEHN was an early innovator in the field of supramolecular chemistry, so he is called as “Father of Supramolecular Chemistry”. His group has published in excess of 950 peer-reviewed articles in chemistry literature, and he has published 3 books in supramolecular chemistry. His book of “Supramolecular Chemistry” has been translated into French, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, and Chinese, which has been named as “Bible” of supramolecular chemistry. His early research laid a solid foundation in chemistry for “molecular recognition”, which tells nature and process of molecular recognition on the basis of both chemical and biological knowledge.
Prof. LEHN received his Ph.D. at University of Pasteur of Strasbourg in 1963 and went to work as a Post-doc at Harvard University for a year. He is currently an emeritus professor at University of Pasteur of Strasbourg and College de France. He is member of French Academy of Sciences, Foreign Associate of the National Academy of Sciences of the USA and Chinese Academy of Sciences, and other 20 or more countries. He has been awarded honorary Ph.D. Degree at over 30 universities and honorary professorship at over 10 universities all over the world.
