Effective Visible-light Water Splitting by Atomically-thick Semiconductor Graphene Analogous
Prof. Yi Xie’s group from Hefei National Laboratory for Physical Sciences at the Microscale in University of Science and Technology of China has recently reported the synthesis of atomically-thick semiconductor grapheneanalogous and their enhanced photoelectrochemicalwater splitting in the top journals of Nat.Commun. (2012, 3, 1057)and Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. (2012, 51, 8727-8731, VIP paper and inside cover), opening a new and promising application for inorganicgrapheneanalogous structures. This work may uncover the tip of the iceberg on the study of inorganic graphene analogues, while their other innovative properties are urgently waiting to be explored.
