On August 14, a ceremony of agreement signing of iChEM for Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) to join iChEM as the 4th core institution was held at XMU. The agreement was signed by the President Chongshi Zhu of XMU, the Vice Presidents Li Jin of FDU and the Vice President Changfei Zhu of USTC, and the Deputy Director Xueming Yang of DICP during the ceremony. The Vice President Nengming Jin of XMU presided over the ceremony.
Prof. Huilin Wan (MCAS) and Prof. Yufen Zhao (MCAS) of XMU, iChEM leaders and scientists, and the leaders of the four core member universities and institution participated the signing ceremony.
After the ceremony, the iChEM Director Zhong-Qun Tian presented a talk for recent progress of the Center, and then discussed future collaborations with the four core members of iChEM upon the DICP participation.
In September of 2012, the iChEM was established jointly by three core universities, Xiamen University (XMU), Fudan University (FDU), and the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). Since then, the iChEM has set its long-term strategies and short-term plans, and much progress has been made. Now participation of DICP would facilitate the success of the iChEM in its coming second round of national approval for the 2011 Collaborative Innovation Centers. In addition to the members from the three universities, 21 well-recognized scientists joined the Center as external collaborators, For example, international experts include Prof. Pei-Dong Yang, member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences USA and Associate Editor of “J. Am. Chem. Soc.”, Prof. Wen-Bin Lin from the University of North Carolina, Prof S. C. Edman Tsang from the University of Oxford, Prof. Edward S. Yeung from the Ames National Lab, and Prof. Yong Wang from the Washington State University. Professors of other institutions in China include Xin-He Bao (MCAS) from Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics of CAS, Mao-Chun Hong (MCAS) from Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter of CAS, and Zhi-Gang Shuai(“Cheung Kong” scholar) from Tsinghua University.
