In the morning of April 27, 2013, a pre-defense seminar, with participation of the four members of the 2011-iChEM, XMU, FDU, USTC and DICP, was organized by the 2011-iChEM and held at XMU to discuss how to get approval from evaluation of the Advisory Committee of Chemistry Department at the National Science Foundation Committee for the funding application of Adjustable Infrared Free Electron Laser instrument (IRFEL) collaboratively applied by the four members of the 2011-iChEM. The seminar was hosted by Prof. Shigang Sun. The participants commented on the pre-defense presentation and modified it. The iChEM director, Zhongqun Tian also commented on it. He suggested on whole scheme of the defense, material preparation and possible concerns from the experts, and hoped that all of the group members could focus on the key issue of the application and carry on the procedure required by the Plan 2011, utilizing the main resource and power of the collaborative units to solve the significant scientific problems.
