Director Yanjue Wang, Science and Technology Department (STD) of the Ministry of Education (ME), announced that the main principle of reviewing first batch of 2011 Collaborative  Innovation Center (2011-CIC) is rather go without than have something shoddy.

The Key part of 2011-CIC is to promote reform of science and technology system in universities. As 2011-CIC was officially launched on May last year, there are some concerns about if this plan will be turned into a piece of cake full of money everyone strives for. Regarding to this issue, Director Wang and the Minister of Education, Mr. Guiren Yuan already clearly stated that 2011 Plan is a plan for supportive of collaborative innovation internationally and talents cultivation to meet world-class standard, not a plan for supportive of certain project.  

Up to now, there are about 150 universities set up 2011-CIC in different forms, with participation of over 300 universities. 26 provinces and cities set up the 2011 Provincial Leading Group for SIC, in which 22 provinces and cities approved special funds for 2011-CIC.

By the end of January of 2013, evaluation of the first batch of 2011-CIC has been finished. One-hundred-seventy-five specialists and scholars have participated in the evaluation. Eventually, More than thirty 2011-CIC have been approved.
