Nobel Prize Laureate conducted substantive cooperative research in iChEM

Professor Konstantin Novoselov has been best known for isolating graphene at the University of Manchester since 2004, and is an expert in condensed matter physics, mesoscopic physics and nanotechnology. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 2010 for his achievements with graphene which made him the youngest laureate in physics since 1973 and was knighted in 2012.

Prof. Novoselov had already visited XMU for three times since February of 2014, and presented a wonderful lecture shared by the four iChEM members via multi-video conference system, and attended two seminars for research discussion in XMU. As an iChEM Honored Distinguished Professor, Prof. Novoselov had conducted a number of cooperative research programs with XMU based on graphene materials after arriving at Xiamen in July 28, 2014. Five graduate students were under his guidance and their respective advisors in XMU for research programs on photocatalytic mechanism of graphene, bactericidal and antibacterial efficiency of graphene composite, thermal conductivity properties of two dimensional materials, and plasmonic properties of graphene during the one-month period of his stay in the summer . All the research programs have been progressed smoothly until now.
