On October 23, 2015, President Xi Jinping visited the National Graphene Institute of Manchester University. Greater Manchester Governor Smith, Chief Minister and Finance Minister, George Osborne, Minister of Northern Economic Affairs, James Wharton, Manchester University Principal gave warm welcome to President Xi.
Nobel Laureate in Physics, Professor Novoselov introduced graphene research situation for President Xi when he visited the clean graphene underground graphene laboratory. National Graphene Institute of Manchester University was founded jointly in 2013 by the British Government of the United European Research and Development Foundation.

As in the above picture, BGT, a British company's CEO, Dr. Zhongping Lai made an introductory for Xi Jinping. It is reported that the poster was partly made by Xiamen Graphene Institute. The cooperation between Xiamen University and University of Manchester has been a long time. In the below picture, at the upper right corner panels you can see the China map marked with "Xiamen University" badge, Manchester University, BGT Material and buildings are of great cooperation.

Professor Konstantin Novoselov has been best known for his graphene isolation at the University of Manchester since 2004, and is an expert in condensed matter physics, mesoscopic physics and nanotechnology. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 2010 for his achievements with graphene which made him the youngest laureate in physics since 1973 and was knighted in 2012.
iChEM Honored Distinguished Professor, Prof. Novoselov had conducted a number of cooperative research programs with XMU based on graphene materials at Xiamen since July 28, 2014. During his stay in the summer (one month) five graduate students were put under his guidance and their respective advisors in XMU for research programs on photocatalytic mechanism of graphene, bactericidal and antibacterial efficiency of graphene composite, thermal conductivity properties of two dimensional materials, and plasmonic properties of graphene. All the research programs have been progressed smoothly until now.
