On June 19-21, 2015, the experts meeting on “Tunable InfraRed Laser for Fundamentals of Energy Chemistry” (FELiChEM) under the main program “National Major Plan in Research and Development of Scientific Instrument and Equipment” held in Xiamen. The project was organized by iChEM professor Shi-Gang Sun, with the participation of the four members from iChEM. Deputy Director of NSFC Wenping Liang, Vice Director Yongjun Chen, Chaozi Lei from MOE, Vice president of XMU Jia-huai Han, members from NSFC and MOE, consultants and experts, about 60 leaders and experts attended the meeting.
Vice President of XMU Jia-huai Han made a speech on behalf of supporting institutions and the leading group. He warmly welcomed the participants of the leaders and experts, and thanked for the support from leaders and experts extended for this project. At the same time, he on behalf of XMU promised to ensure and supervise the on-time and high-quality completion of the project.
Chaozi Lei on behalf of project administration thanked the long support from NSFC. He said that the MOE was highly concerned about the progress of this project and maintained close contact with the project team. Getting approved such a major project is the first step, but it is more important to build world's most advanced large-scale equipment and produce a world-class scientific research output. He hoped that XMU will further integrate various resources to support the project, and also hope that the members of iChEM to make efforts to support the implementation of the project, to explore new ideas of collaborative innovation in practice, and act as a model for the "2011 plan".
Professor Shi-Gang Sun reported the overall situation and progress of the project to the leaders and experts. The leaders of each sub-project reported the development plan of the infrared free electron laser, surface and interface spectroscopy, spatially resolved spectroscopy, time-resolved spectroscopy, dissociation spectra and excitation spectra. They listened to questions and suggestions from leaders and experts. Technical committees and consultants fully affirmed the developing technology route proposed by the project team after a demonstration, and expressed satisfaction with the progress made by the project team. At the same time, they also made valuable comments and suggestions to the technical design of the equipment, and asked the project team to repeatedly demonstrate the technical details, and take advice from experts to ensure the quality. The project team will adjust and further improve the development of programs based on the suggestions of leaders and experts to ensure the successful completion of the project.
During the meeting, leaders issued letters of appointment to the technical committee members and consultants.
