“A catalyst in the presence of hydrogen- ethanolamine and ammonia convert into ethylene diamine” obtained China’s Excellent Patent Award

Most recently, the iChEM researcher, Prof. Yunjie Ding’s patent “A catalyst in the presence of hydrogen- ethanolamine and ammonia convert into ethylene diamine” obtained the China’s Excellent Patent Award bestowed by the State Intellectual Property Office of China.

Ethyleneamines is an important organic chemical raw material. The technology of monoethanolamine (MEA method) preparation of ethyleneamine has long been mastered and controlled by a few foreign companies which refuse to transfer related technology to our company. After a long term pioneering research, DICP made a breakthrough for this technique, formed a series MEA technologies that have completely independent intellectual property rights, and also completed the tasks from fundamental research laboratory to industrial production processes. Shandong Lianmeng Chemical Group Co. Ltd built China’s first set of industrial unit for production of ethylenediamine by ethanolamine using this patent in 2011, and in 2015 they commissioned 30,000 tons / year ethyleneamine devices. The enterprise continuously invests two sets of production plant using this patent which proved that the patent is practical and economic.

This patent provides a clean and efficient technology for our ethanolamine industries, breaks the blockade from foreign companies, and improves our MEA technologies. Furthermore, this technology greatly balances the supply and demand of important chemical raw materials, and fills out the blank for our independent technology and production.
