Two researches have been listed on China’s Top Ten Scientific Progresses in 2016

On February 20th, 2017, Ministry of Science and Technology has announced the top ten scientific progresses of China in 2016, two of them are from iChEM researchers. One is Prof. XIE Yi’s group from University of Science and Technology of China, who was awarded for research on “Partially oxidized atomic cobalt layers for carbon dioxide electroreduction to liquid fuel”. Another is Prof. BAO Xinhe and Prof. PAN Xiulian’s group from Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics awarded for research on “Selective conversion of syngas to light olefins”.

"China’s Top Ten Scientific Progresses" are selected by Ministry of Science and Technology and have been successfully organized 12 sessions, aiming to strengthen propaganda of China's major scientific progresses in basic research and to encourage researchers’ scientific enthusiasm and contributions to science research. The selection process is divided into three steps: recommendation, primary election and final election. It should be recommended by five editorial departments of China Basic Science, Science & Technology Review, Bulletin of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Science Foundation in China and China Science Bulletin, two rounds of voting process respectively for primary election and final election by experts and scholars such as academicians of the two Academies, consultants and advisory experts of 973 projects, chief scientists of 973 projects, directors of State Key Laboratories, etc., the final winners shall covers important scientific research progresses from different fields of natural science.
